Warning

This quick reference updates automatically - any text in purple is generated based on network activity on the live VATSIM network. If automatic updating fails, the controller to hand off to will be shown in red and you must revert to using the top-down table. If you'd like a static version anyway (perhaps you've got a session on the sweatbox!), then please use the toggle below.

Glasgow (EGPF) | Quick Reference

General

LVP

Enforced when: IRVR or Met. Visibility is 600 m or less or cloud ceiling (BKN+) 200 ft or less.

Safeguarding when: IRVR is 1000 m or less and forcast to drop into LVP or cloud ceiling is 300 ft and forecast to drop.

Aircraft will use the CAT III holding points.

  • 23: A2, or A3 for A380s/ICAO Code F aircraft.
  • 05: G2

When safeguarding only is initiated and IRVR is above 1000 m, AIR may instruct aircraft to vacate at intermediate taxiways, else aircraft should vacate at full length via Taxiways A or G.

Common SID Reroutes

Warning

Controllers are reminded that it is their responsibility alone to ensure that the issued reroute beyond the initial segment provided below is valid.
These reroutes should, ideally, be issued over voice without need for prior pilot acceptance.

Standard VFR Departures

GMC may clear VFR traffic via the following VRPs without prior coordination:

  • Greenock (Runway 23)
  • Ardmore Point (Runway 05)
  • Alexandria
  • East Kilbride

Not above altitude 2000 ft VFR, Glasgow QNH, GMC squawk (2516-2617).
GMC shall then notify INT and AIR of the type, callsign, squawk, and routing.

Wake Turbulence Seperation Notes

  1. When the leading aircraft is conducting a full length take-off, and the following from an intersection take-off, add 1 minute to the minimum seperation time
  2. When seperation is by distance, the time equivalent is also permissable.

Speed Separation Notes

  1. The basic separation interval (2 minutes) is applied between types in the same group (or where the following aircraft is one group slower)
  2. An additional 1 minute is added for each successive group when the following aircraft is faster (where the resulting timed interval is excessive, the controller may coordinate an early release)
  3. The basic interval may be reduced by 1 minute when the following aircraft is two or more groups slower (however, the controller must account for wake turbulence separation)
  4. Types not in the speed table (and the subsequent aircraft) are subject to release from the appropriate radar controller.
VFR Procedures

Coordination for VFR/SVFR departure routing is done by GMC who should inform AIR of the route agreed with INT. All VFR/SVFR departures require a release from INT before departure.

Visual circuits are normally on the north side of the airfield, not above altitude 2000 ft. AIR may vary the circuit as required. GMC will require approval from AIR before start-up. Circuit instructions are passed at the holding point.

AIR shall inform FIN when the circuit is active. FIN shall communicate this to INT.

Release Conditions

Talla will transfer inbounds descending to MSL lvl LANAK.

Traffic at MSL+3 or above will be retained by Talla.

ScAC South will transfer inbounds decending to MSL.

Due to the shared nature of the STIRA arrival route with traffic inbound to EGPH, a reduced radar handover may be required.

Galloway will transfer inbounds on a heading towards the Glasgow Local Area, descending to the MSL or the next level available.

A reduced radar handover is required. When one is not provided, traffic will be transferred as per LANAK.

ScAC West will transfer PF inbounds descending to FL90 level 20NM before GOW (approximately 3 NM after FYNER).

Traffic from FYNER must enter the Glasgow Local Area at FL90 or below. INT shall hold traffic at FYNER if they are unable to achieve this restriction.

ScAC South will transfer PF inbounds by reduced radar handover before 30 NM of GOW.

Traffic must be at FL90 20 NM before GOW (approximately 3 NM before FOYLE), else holding shall be initiated.

ROBBO is defined for joining clearances of traffic from the west.

ScAC West will instruct traffic to frecall INT between 30 NM and 40 NM from GOW. Descent will be issued by ScAC West to be FL90 20 NM before GOW.

INT shall not issue joining clearance at ROBBO above FL90 to ensure traffic remains within the Glasgow Designated Area.

LOMON is defined for joining clearances of traffic from the north.

ScAC South will instruct traffic to freecall INT between 30 NM and 40 NM from GOW. Descent will be issued by ScAC South to be FL90 20 NM before GOW.

INT shall not issue joining clearance at LOMON above FL90 to ensure traffic remains within the Glasgow Designated Area.
